Dear Church Family,
June is a season of transition. The school year has ended, summer schedules are beginning, and here in the church, we enter what the liturgical calendar calls “Ordinary Time.” After the great celebrations of Easter and Pentecost, we now turn our attention to the steady, daily work of discipleship, living out our faith in ordinary moments and everyday life.
But don’t let the name fool you. There is nothing ordinary about a life awakened by the Spirit. In Acts 2, after the fire of Pentecost fell and the crowds were amazed, what did the early church do? They didn’t return to business as usual. They gathered. They prayed. They broke bread together. They cared for one another. They listened to the apostles’ teaching. In short, they created a community rooted in grace and sustained by the Spirit.
That’s our call, too. This summer, while some of us travel and others enjoy the long, warm days closer to home, I encourage you to stay connected to the life of our congregation. Worship, fellowship, prayer, and study continue and so does the Spirit’s work among us.
In this season, we’ll be diving into some powerful passages from Paul’s letters and the Gospel of John. We’ll talk about freedom, faith, and the fruit of the Spirit. And we’ll keep asking: What does it mean to live like Christ, not just on Sundays, but in the ordinary days of our lives?
Whether you’re planting a garden, planning a vacation, or simply enjoying a slower pace, know that God is present. Pay attention. Be open. Look for grace in the “ordinary.” You just might find that God is doing something extraordinary.
Here are some activities planned for June.
June 2-6: Vacation Bible School – Volunteers are always needed.
June 10: Together on Tuesday Fellowship Meal
June 18-20: Annual Conference of the Arkansas Conference
Join us at the Hot Springs Convention Center on the 18th at 5:30 for a special evening of celebration as we ordain new pastors—including Daniel Curry (Harper), son-in-law of Dr. Shawn and Brenda Purifoy. All are welcome to attend this joyful occasion!
Blessings,
Rev. Candace
