December 2025 Newsletter

Dear Church Family,

As we enter December, the rhythm of Advent settles over us like a quiet invitation. This season asks us to slow down, take a breath, and notice the ways God is moving among us. While the world hurries toward Christmas, Advent invites us to wait with purpose and pay attention to the small signs of hope that break into our days.

I always find myself reflecting on how Christ chooses to come into the world in ways that seem so ordinary. He arrived through a young couple in a dusty town, not with fanfare but with quiet strength. God’s greatest gift was given in the middle of real life, and that truth still holds. Christ keeps showing up in our everyday moments, our acts of kindness, our relationships, and our courage to love one another well.

Here at Malvern First UMC, I see the light of Christ taking shape in so many ways. I see it in the volunteers who make sure our homebound members never feel forgotten. I see it in the children who bring energy and laughter into this building. I see it in the generosity of a congregation that continues to give faithfully, even when the world feels heavy. These are glimpses of God’s kingdom, right here in our corner of Arkansas.

This month will bring beautiful opportunities for worship and fellowship. Our Advent services will help us prepare our hearts as we journey toward the manger. Lessons and Carols will lift our spirits through music and scripture. And Christmas Eve will give us the cherished moment when we raise candles together and proclaim that the light has come into the world, and the darkness cannot overcome it.

As you move through this season, I hope you find moments to pause and let the wonder of God’s love settle in your heart. May you look for Christ in unexpected places. May you let hope guide your steps. And may you remember what Advent teaches us every year, that God is still at work, still drawing close, still making all things new.

I am grateful to share this journey with you.
Grace and peace to you this Advent and Christmas season.
