April 2026 Newsletter

April 2026 Newsletter.

April is one of the most meaningful months in the life of the church. It is a season when we move from the shadows of the cross into the joy of resurrection. Throughout this month we will gather to remember Christ’s sacrifice, celebrate the victory of Easter, and continue growing together as a community of faith.

Holy Week will be at the center of our worship life. During this sacred time we walk with Jesus through the final days of his earthly ministry. It is a week that invites reflection, gratitude, and renewal. Our Maundy Thursday Tenebrae service will help us experience the solemn beauty of Christ’s journey to the cross as the sanctuary gradually darkens and we remember the depth of God’s love for the world.

Then on Easter Sunday we gather in celebration and joy. Easter reminds us that God’s power is greater than fear, suffering, or death. The empty tomb proclaims hope to every generation. In a world that can sometimes feel heavy with worry and uncertainty, Easter declares that new life is always possible through Christ.

As we continue through the Easter season, our worship services will focus on the story of the early church in the book of Acts. These passages remind us that the church has always been a community shaped by prayer, fellowship, generosity, and a shared commitment to the mission of Christ. The first believers devoted themselves to learning, caring for one another, and sharing God’s love with the world. Their example challenges us to ask what it means for us to live faithfully as the church today.

I am grateful for the many ways our congregation continues to grow and serve. Our Caregivers Support Group is offering encouragement and community to those caring for loved ones. Our youth and children are helping lead monthly evening worship, reminding us that faith is meant to be shared across generations. Our new young persons “Get Real” is meeting on April 23rd. Getting Ahead Group is still meeting at our church every week, as well. Even our yoga ministry has opened a new door for connection and wellness in our church family and community. Our month will culminate in “Celebration Sunday” when we turn in our stewardship goals for the next year. These ministries reflect who we are becoming together, a church that seeks to meet people where they are and invite them into deeper faith and community.

As we move further into spring, I encourage you to stay connected. Join us for worship, participate in one of our small groups or ministries, and invite a friend or neighbor to come with you. The church is strongest when we gather, learn, serve, and grow together.

Thank you for the many ways you continue to support the life and mission of Malvern First United Methodist Church. It is a joy to serve alongside you.

Grace and peace,
Rev. Candace Barron
